During my school board election, I was able to shine light on the Miller Machine and how the Lee GOP (LCREC) and Republican Clubs were used to get Miller-Caldwell candidates into elected office.
(PAC DOCUMENTS ATTACHED BELOW)
I lost the election in November 2022. But, in December 2022, the Board Members for the Republican Executive Committee were up for re-election. Prior to December 2022, three of the four Board Members who were involved in helping Miller get particular a candidate's elected were in the following positions:
Chairperson- Jonathan Martin
Vice Chairperson - Doris Cortese
Treasurer- Andrew Sund
Cortese and Sund were voted out, and Martin moved on to become our state senator. (That pay for play story will be another day.)
Once they realized they were losing their seats, the elected officials, now former board members, and their cronies got up and walked out of the meeting. In a very short period of time, they started a caucus called the "Conservative Leadership Caucus" (CLC) which is also a political action committee (PAC) meaning they accept contributions to support candidates. They have been acting like a faux LCREC.
The Chair of the CLC is a NEVER TRUMPER, Andrew Sund (see video). Sund was also the President of the Cape Coral Republican Club when he gave club money to the CLC PAC . This is beyond unethical as the Cape Coral Republican Club is a chartered club whose loyalty is suppose to be to the LCREC.
Several members of the CLC continue to attend the REC meetings to wreak havoc, posturing for the upcoming December 2024 election in an attempt to unseat America First Candidates.
It is a fact that Brian Wright, a wealthy Lee County man who has been charged with stalking (see attached) and DUI wants to become Chair of the REC and Doris Cortese, defined as the Republican Hammer (see attached) wants to be Vice-Chair. This will not be good for our county.
Wright has been going from Republican Club to Republican Club spewing lies about the current LCREC Board.
In the past, the prior Board worked with several of the Republican Clubs throughout Lee County to parade Miller's candidates around and encouraged the members of these clubs to vote for his candidates. Some of the club presidents actually sent out emails or handed out flyers with Miller's candidates on them, excluding any other Republican candidates from their lists.
Some of the club presidents made donations from their clubs to candidates which is actually against the County Model Constitution rules because they are not supposed to be endorsing candidates unless the LCREC has endorsed the candidate by a 2/3 vote.
VOTE NO!
